I was wondering if there is a way to delete all that is on a hard drive and
start from scratch.Starting with ms.dos then XP pro.Would this bring back the
space I lost during the years of use of my Pc.
Also why is it that SP2 bring so much problems with programs that are
already working fine.My system cant read 3d when i try to access my game, says
DirectX9.oc is missing or my video drivers are out dated. All was working fine
until I installed SP2.
I have an 18.6g and now I have only 12.09g,where is they other 6.6g went?

Back up your data first, reformatting will remove every thing.

i don't think you
need to reinstall windows
xp.

the problem you have
is not caused by your
operating system, but
the lack of space on
your disk.

it sounds like you have
a 20 gig harddrive. if
so, then it is too small
and limiting.

even if you proceeded
to wipe the disk away
and reinstall windows,
eventually you will encounter
the same problem of
not having enough disk
space.

also, we have no idea
if you have misconfigured
some of windows settings.

for example, some poor
settings would be like
having a 4 gigabyte swap
file or setting the internet
temp folder to 2 gigs.

only you would know if
the above is almost true.

in any case, be sure your
virtual memory is set to
no more than 1152 and
your internet folder is
no larger than 200.

here is some info:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...emoveprog.mspx

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...letefiles.mspx

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310312

--------------

the above are only helpful
tips. but in reality the above
would be needed to be done
regularly as long as you have
a small harddrive.

i would definitely consider
simply adding another disk
to your system.

Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Select View Report and
click on Save As and Save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents
Folder and post a copy. Do this before running Disk Defragmenter as it
is more informative.

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to
Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. Also select
Start, All Programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp, More
Options, System Restore and remove all but the latest System Restore
point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Hope this helps.
