SPAMCOP User,
In your original reply you extolled the OP to
set this registry value:
>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
>
>create the DWORD value: NoSimpleStartMenu
>
>Values:
>
> XP Start Menu: 0
> Classic Start Menu: 1
.... but my point was this that you quoted was going to make the system SHOW
the CLASSIC start menu and that is NOT what the OP wanted, which WAS the new
XP style menu. Plus, I don't recognise those particular values and
question their validity.
I merely clarified the situation by quoting:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSimpleStartMenu"=dword:00000000
....plus, if it's hair splitting you want, what else is it when you point out
the 'error' of using the outdated 'REGEDIT4' following your statement by
admitting it still works!! If it functions in XP then why are you
criticizing just for the sake of it?!
AND I don't care about the default state for the value I quoted, I merely
said that setting it to 'disabled' (manually or) through GPO editor will
FORCE the XP style menu (what the OP wants) and NOT the CLASSIC one.
Lastly, you say "but if part of the domain then you need to use USER
ONFIG" - there is no equivalent 'Start Menu' setting in User Configuration
ONLY in 'Computer Configuration' within the Group Policy Editor.
