Hi all,

One of my installed application looks for some custom
files in
C:\Windows directory. Since Win2K have all its stuff
installed in Winnt
folder I created a new windows folder and just copy that
custom file into it
from the CD. The application works fine but it screws up
the Add/Remove
Programs in Control Panel.

Whenever I opened the Add/Remove Programs the
following error pop-up

" An unexpected Error occured
Class Not registered,
res://sp3res.dll/default.hta
Line : 225 "

It is showing nothing as no programs installed
at the start then
if I scroll down a little I can see all my existing
programs available. But
if I click any of them another message like below pops-up
and closing the
Add/Remove programs application.

" mshta.exe has generated errors and closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program "

But now I actually deleted the Windows directory I
created and rebooted
the system but no improvement. I think it updated some
registry entries and
cannot recover it back. All other programs are working
fine as usual.

So if anyone have any idea how to fix this it will be
appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Bharathi.

Greetings,

I had a similar problem with W2k and IE6.

Having searched for the error message, I found this on the
MS site:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;266668

I know... the error message is not the same but they are
related!

The first two steps solved this problem for me.

If all this doesn't and you're still getting the MSHTA
error, try:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-
US;285195

Kindest regards,

James
