For whatever reason lately, every time I reboot, I have *a clapping sound
that comes out of my speakers when I left click to open programs or onto the
start menu items.* It's easily remedied by going to Sounds and Audio
Devices (or shortcutting that item to the desktop or anywhere else)>Sound
Tab>Sound Scheme and selecting a no sounds theme on the pulldown menu.
There must be a cause of this, and a way to stop this from happening. I
can't find anything obvious in taskmanager's processes, or listed in
msconfig or services that would be the culprit or impact this.

I've seen that sound come up every once in a while, but now it shows up on
every reboot. Does anyone know the cause of this and a remedy?

On the same page where you changed the sound scheme to None, you can check
the paths for the sounds assigned to "Start Navigation" and "End
Navigation."

PS: You can also change the sound file for those events only to None or a
sound file of your choice.

Hi Sharon--

I've been able to nail down that this clapping (although I've seen it happen
before not related to Style XP) has to do with the deployment of Style XP.
I have Style XP's latest version 2.03 and its latest patch. When you say
page, I think you mean the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties dialogue box
(Sounds tab), and as I said I can correct this by going there and switching
to a different sound scheme with no sounds or without the clap, (it shows up
as blank before I switch it in the "Sound Scheme" pull-down. When you say "
you can check the paths for the sounds assigned to "Start Navigation" and
"End Navigation," I'm not sure *where* exactly you mean for this to be
done. I don't see anyplace on this box for that. I know I can change the
sound them--its just an annoyance to have to do it every reboot because I'm
using Style XP whose options and associated apps Style Builder and Resource
Builder I like as well as Stardock's.

We're in the same area of Sounds and Audio. Where you see a "blank" for
specific sounds, select "None" from the drop down list. (There's a browse
button there and that allows you to view folders, files, and paths.)

I've just switched going the other way -- Styles XP to the Object Desktop
suite.
