ClamWin isn't but some others are. For example Bit Defender offers
a free for personal use av scanner that's strictly on-demand but
definitely worthwhile. The free eScan from Microworld uses the
Kaspersky scan engine, and it's definitely worthwhile even though
the free version doesn't have a clean/delete capability. DOS av
scanners are, of course, on-demand only, and some of them are
definitely worthwhile. I've always used on-demand av only. I don't
like or need "underfootware"
