At school we have ADSL I-line. We don't have a modem only a cisco 800
router. This cisco router is administrated by belgacom. We can't do
anything in that router, only belgacom can enter the cisco router. I
have asked belgacom to completly open the cisco and forward al the
ports to our usr 8200 (IP: 192.168.0.2)
The already did that.
Now I want to connect our usr 8200 to the cisco. (because then we can
ourselfs manage the usr 8200 router and open/close/forward ports as we
like)
I now connected the ethernet port of the cisco router the wan port of
the usr 8200.
I then connected a pc to a lan port of the usr 8200 and enabled dynamic
ip adresses on the pc.
Then I can enter http://usr8200

the problem is that at school we use static ip adresses. And I can't
figure out how to get everything working.

How should I configure the WAN section of the usr 8200
When I leave the WAN with a automatic ip, the status stays : waiting
for dhcp lease
Do I change "network" to WAN, LAN or DMZ?
Do I change "internet protocol" to use the following ip address/obtain
an Ip address auto/ no IP address
Do I change DNS server to obtain DNS server address auto or do I use
our DNS settings : 195.238.2.21 and 195.238.2.22
Do I change "IP adderess distribution" to enabled/DHCP server/DHCP
relay

How should I configure the LAN section of the usr 8200
Does the ip adres of "internet protocol" need te be : 192.168.0.2?
Do I change "ip address distribution" to diasbled?
Do I change "routing" to basic?

Kind Regards,
Van Wynsberghe Benny

Since you use static IP addresses, it's safe to say the Cisco 800 is not
providing DHCP addresses. You'll need to configure a static IP on the WAN
side of the 8200. In fact you would have needed to do this BEFORE belgacom
could have forwarded the ports (where did they forward them to if you didn't
supply them with an IP address?). Then your computers will have to be
configured to use the 8200 as their default gateway. You'll need to re-IP
either the LAN side of the Cisco or the LAN side of the 8200. They must be
different networks (subnets) to route.

Internet
|
WAN (public IP address)
CISCO 800
LAN 192.168.1.1/24
|
WAN 192.168.1.2/24
USR 8200 (gateway 192.168.1.1)
LAN 192.168.2.1/24
|
Typical Workstation:
Address 192.168.2.20
Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.2.1

Desired incoming ports on the Cisco forwarded to 192.168.1.1

Desired incoming ports on the 8200 forwarded to
a workstation or server on the 192.168.2 network.

.....kurt

PS Double NATting _should_ work for simple port forwarding, but you'll have
problems with VPNs and some Autentication Headers.
