choppy sound when playing quicktime movies

Even after upgrading my quicktime player to the latest version (6.5.1),
quicktime movies viewed in internet explorer have choppy sound. I tried
playing around with the quicktime's settings with no luck. I noticed
that this problem doesnt exist when playing quicktime movies in
Netscape 8.0
Any known solutions to this problem?
