I have several email accounts set up on my copy of Outlook 2003 (different
email addressees). When I click on 'reply', the new email always defaults
to the account to which the original email was sent. Is there any way I can
change this so it always replies using the account which I've set as
default?

The "default" is to use the account through which the message was
received when you reply to it. Use the Accounts toolbar button if you
want to use a different account for your reply. The account selected as
the default are for *new* e-mails.

Are all your recipients of your replies actually expecting you to reply
using a different account? Wouldn't you think it odd when sending
e-mail to Joe that you get a reply from Mark? They sent to a specific
e-mail address and that's probably the one from which they would expect
a reply.

Trent, I agree with you, there should be a way to reply from one default
account. I have several receive-only accounts and encounter the same
situation.

One solution is to set the reply address and outgoing server to the account
that you want to send from so when you reply, you get the reply from the
correct address and server.

Change the Outgoing server address...
and change log in information for the alternate SMTP server
Account settings menu> Change... > More Settings... button > Outgoing Server
tab > My Otgoing Server requires authentication > Log on using User name &
password
