I am making a slide show with about 100 photos. I just want to do it
very quick. So I just want the simple fade transition between each of
the photos.

What is the way to set a default transition (not the duration or
whatever but the actual one to use). Please don't tell me I have to
drag and drop the transition a 100 times!

start with an empty timeline, add your FIRST picture, then add your LAST
picture. set the transition between them to whatever you want. now select
all the "in between" pictures and drag them between the first and last.
this will add the same transition to all.

Method 1:
In the Storyboard view, click on the first picture in the storyboard and
press Ctrl-A to select all. Now right click on the desired transition or
effect and select Add to Storyboard.

Method 2:
First select the desired transition and copy it to the clipboard by pressing
Ctrl-C or from right click menu selct Copy. Now select all clips in the
storyboard/timeline (Ctrl-A) and paste the transition (Ctrl-V or right
click -> Paste)
