in 2003 outlook you could choose the "options" tab and choose a particular
personal folder to save the sent message in after sending (without having to
setup a rule). in 2007 when i choose "options", i do not see the choice to
do that. is it somewhere else in 2007? any help? i dont want to constantly
go to the sent folder and have to move them manually
thanks

thank you your reply, however i have a hard time believing that 2003 had this
option but 2007 does not.

anyone else have any suggestions besides doing this manually after sending
or using a rule? i would have to create a rule for over 50 folders!!!!!!!!

I don't believe 2003 has this feature either. There *is* the feature that
allows a sent reply to be saved in the folder where the original message was
(unless it was in the Inbox), but that's in 2007 too.

Where do you think it was in 2003?

Message options.... same place is 2003, however now the delivery option is
"have replies sent to". in 2003 the option was which folder to have the
message saved in after it was sent. i did it every message so i know it was
there. i dont understand why its not there in 2007

Ok, Message Options is a lot different than Tools - Options, which is where
I was looking and yes, after checking a friends 2007 system, it's not there
and the primary reason why it wouldn't be there (apart from a bug, eg, it is
hidden and it shouldn't be) is because in the studies they'd done they'd
found that users do not use that feature and were often confused by its
prescence.

So, I'm guessing you have both a folder for mail from this person you're
sending to and a different folder for mail sent to the person?

actually i use the same folder to keep mail i have received from them and the
same for mail sent to them. when received, after i read, i just "move" to
the client folder. when sending, i used to just click the options and have
it moved there after sending. now i have to go to sent and move from there.
i dont know who wasnt using, but anyone like me that has to keep emails (from
and to my clients) used this feature for every email. i can send 100 emails
a day. going to sent and moving them is just not a good option.

thanks for the response and help

Personally, I would do one of two things:

Either set up rules for the inbound mail and turn on the 'Save replies to
items in folders other than inbox with original item'.
Use the heck out of Search folders which really alleviate the need to use
folders at all.
