Choice of drop downs for database results

I'm beginning to get the hang of using a drop down for searching a database
and displaying the results on the same page.

Is there a way to offer the user a choice of drop downs depending on what
kind of search he/she wants? For instance, in a list of names and addresses
one might like to search by Zip Code once and later by State or some other
criterion. I'd like to offer more than one choice, perhaps several. Is
this realistic?

Thanks.

Stephen
