Is there any way I can get the results of chkdsk to
display longer on the screen at its
completion so I can read its conclusion, and avoid the
task of a second process to
bring up a text report in Notepad? I have run chkdsk 9
times today and
each time Windows finds problems with the file system, and
states "Run CHKDSK
with the /F (fix) option to correct these". Does anyone
have any information as to how many times I might have to
run chkdsk until all errors have been fixed?

look in event viewer for a winlogon event

-- sometimes the errors never completely end, just reduce to a few

Try going to run, type:cmd In cmd type:CHKDSK C:
This is a read only run,but the chks take place as if /F mode,
and the results are displayed.Try booting to xp cd,recovery, press
enter for password,then at cmd screen type:CHKDSK C: /R
When its thru type:EXIT In recovery /F wont work, its CHKDSK C:
with or w/o, /p or use /R
