I recently upgrade from ME to XP Pro on my Toshiba
Satellite 2805. In the process of upgrading we found that
my hard drive was showing many bad sectors. We were able
to "clean" these and everything is functioning ok. But I
would like to periodically do a check of the physical
surface of the hard drive. Under ME I would have used
Scandisk, but under XP I am trying to use chkdsk. Since
the program won't run with the drive unlocked, it runs
when the machine restarts. In doing so, my screen goes
blank while chkdsk runs. When it finishes (after about 30
minutes), Windows automatically loads. So I never see the
status log that goes with chkdsk to know what it has done
or not done. I am told this is not normal. What can I do
to see the log?
