you may need to
run the utility from
the disk system
prompt.
boot up with a
xp cd then click
repair to initiate
the recovery console.
at the disk prompt
run>:
chkdsk /p
fixboot
then "exit", remove cd
and see if it resolves
the problem.
if not then try running
chkdsk /r next time.
