CHK DSKfinds unused index entries and security descriptors

I have two Windows XP computers with the NTFS file system
and whenever I run CHKDSK, it always finds unused index
entries and security descriptors that must be cleared.
The procedure is to run "CHKDSK C: /F /R" from the
Command Prompt and afterward read the result in the Event
Viewer under Application (Winlogon is source). A typical
result is as follows:

Cleaning up 8 unused index entries from index $SII of
file 0x9.
Cleaning up 8 unused index entries from index $SDH of
file 0x9.
Cleaning up 8 unused security descriptors.

After another run of CHKDSK the 8's become 1's, but the
problems never go away completely and a day later the 1's
become several again. BOTH machines exhibit the same
problem and even reformatting the disk and doing a clean
install of XP (with no other software of any kind) yields
th same problems. Also, Symantec says index and security
descriptor problems are serious and need to be fixed.
PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP!!!!

I have exactly the same problem!

Have a look under My Computer \ Manage \ Computer Management \ System Tools \ Event Viewer \ System for Entries with Source "Disk" to see if there are any underlying problem such as: "The device, \Device\Harddisk3\D, has a bad block."

I'm not sure what this means, because my disk checking software doesn't find faults in the disk, only in the NTFS File System...

I'm surprised noone replied to your article in all this time... Did you get any answers?
