who is the web provider? Only Hotmail and MSN are supported and only under
certain conditions.

Hi Diane. I do not follow your response. How are ONLY Hotmail and MSN
supported? Unless I am not following the OP correctly, could he not just
configured both his computers in Outlook and chose to leave a copy on
the server if he wanted duplicate emails on both computers?

I use Yahoo webmail as well as my ISP's. Although you have to subscribe
(pay) for Yahoo's POP3 service to access email thru Outlook, it works
just fine.

Since we don't know who his provider is, we don't know if it offers pop3
capability, which is why I asked who it is.

Since he did not specify who the 'web based email' provider is, it's
impossible to know if he means yahoo or one of the few other services that
offers pop3 capabilities or one that is purely web only. In my experience,
when people refer to 'web based email' they usually mean they want to use
Outlook's HTTP protocol. That requires webdav support which only hotmail and
msn support.

If the question was 'I use yahoo, how do I get it into outlook' then I would
have said he needed to pay for yahoo premium service and use pop3. If the
was 'I use gmail... ' then I would have told him to look at the gmail help
to enable pop3.

I am not the original poster however I want to do the same thing but whatever
I am doing isn't working.

I have Outlook 2002 on my home desktop and my office laptop. I want to view
emails for one account on both. My ISP is centurytel.net the local phone
company. They do have POP3 capabilities, I think. I do know that when I
configured Outlook, I checked the POP3 option. If there is something else I
should check for, please let me know.

Anyway, I have configured Outlook to keep my email on their server however
once the emails download onto one computer either the lap or desktop, I can't
get those same emails on the other computer.

Am I missing a step? What am I doing wrong? Can you help me with this?

Thanks in advance.
