Checking active content - upcoming IE change

Hi;

I've downloaded a FrontPage add-in from the link below.
It searches your webs for active content that will be
affected by the upcoming change to IE, the one that
prompts users before loading some active page content.

I've never installed an add-in, and I'm wary of having a
third-party product integrated into FP like this.

I maintain a pretty large intranet site and would like to
take advantage of a solution like this. Can anyone offer
an informed opinion on the comfort factor for installing
this add-in, or third-party add-ins in general?

http://www.office-
power.com/products/activecontent/index.htm

Thanks,
Dave

If it cause any problems, it can be disabled under Tools | Add-ins.

Thanks. One more detail to ease my mind - even though it
may be disabled, could it's very presense cause gremlins?
I don't know how "deeply" the integration goes.

Thanks again,
Dave

It is just a add-in that add a button to your menu bar. I can't answer
questions related to how add-in are actually integrated, since I have never
done any, but would think that most just sit on top of the UI layer.

Dave:
There's a chance that you won't need that add-in: "The U.S. Patent and
Trademark Office has stepped squarely into a fight roiling the Web by
agreeing to re-examine the Eolas patent for a browser plug-in, a development
likely to bring cheer to Microsoft and software patent foes alike."
