Check folder permission before transfertext

Is there any way to code a form command button to first check to see if the
user currently logged onto an XP Pro workstation has domain access to the
source folder for text files used as the source for a series of transfertext
actions?

As it is, if the user does not have read permission to the folder, the
transfertext actions execute, but, just fail to repopulate the database
tables! They are left empty!

What would be ideal is, if the user does not have permission that a
messagebox came up and the subroutine exit before the transfertext runs.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.
