Check disk quits before finishing file check and repair. The message
is that the program is ending for no known reason. Is there any help
out there.
Thanks,
Fibon

Make sure before running chkdsk, that there is a full and complete backup of
important data. In certain circumstances it can result in corruption and
data loss that can't be recovered.

Why is chkdsk running? Did you tell it to run, or did it just run on it's
own?

Chkdsk can be run from the recovery console. Use the command chkdsk /p to
check for and correct errors and chkdsk /r to check for errors and confirm
that all sectors are readable. /r implies /p.

How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

Download a drive diagnostic utility from the hard drive manufacturer's web
site. That will create a bootable floppy or CD. Boot from that and run the
diagnostics on the drive.

Click on "C"
Scroll to "Check Disk - Disk Checking Runs Upon Boot" for more info.

Uhh, I don't think that's what the OP asked. See Rock's reply to see
something that makes sense. You just wasted time and effort.

Also, post only in Plain Text; you're set for HTML.

if chkdsk fails via the o.s.
then you run it outside of the o.s.

makes plenty of sense to me.

Trying the help someone resolve
an issue is my time well spent.

However, responding to replies like yours
are a waste of my valuable time and effort.

Wasting my time seems to be
all you can offer towards the subject
at hand?
