hi i have a corrupt file and keep trying to run the check disc utility but
it gets to stage 2 then says was unable to complete the task. please help.

What corrupt file? Run Disk CleanUp ( or beter still cCleaner ) before
trying chkdsk again.

What is the name of the corrupt file and how do you know it is corrupt?

What version of Windows XP do you have (with service pack)?
