| i currently own 2 ide hdd, one in a usb2.0 and one in a firewire enclosure.
| i plan on adding a dvd-burner soon, but dont want the mess of 3 external
| enclosures, so i thought about going to a 4-drive firewire case, but am
| somehow upset by the price of 160 euro. subtracting the money i get from
| selling the other two enclosures it still end up somewhere around 90 to 100
| bucks, so this is somewhat horrible.
| i also thought about buying a cheap pc (P-90) for around 15 bucks and hook
| up a firewire card.
Just get a bigger case for your PC.
| my questions:
| 1) can i connect two-firewire ports directly and it works the way i am used
| to, e.g. i can see the drives as normal in explorer?
| my guess is no.
It is possible to do with software, something like a SCSI-3 bridge. Not likely
on Windows though.
| 2) i know i can use firewire as 400mbps network, so am i able to use the
| drives as network drives?
| my guess is yes, but what about the dvd-burner? will nero6 burn to a
| network-burner?
Nope, network drives are file sharing, no audio or multimedia either.
