The I860 would be a great choice. I think Canon still has a rebate
offer on their site, you may want to look..

The I860 would be the way to go for the money. The speed for black
text is amazing and the photos, well, the best around.
I left mine unused for weeks at a time with no ill effects. Frequent
use is always recommended though.
As far as the waste tank, don't even give it a thought. No one could
use an inkjet printer more than me and the self cleaning cycles it
does, never once tripped the warning.
