Chart Auto-Size Behavior

I have a bar chart with legend (names of the individual bars) to the
left. I do not show the chart title at the top or the horizontal axis
labels at the bottom. When the legend on the left gets wider (as the
words get longer), the graphical area of the chart shrinks, left-to-
right and top-to-bottom. I want the graphical area of the chart to
remain the same size (particularly top-to-bottom), regardless of how
long these words get. Is this possible? TIA, James

James -

Excel continually changes the default size of chart elements as other
elements are grow or shrink. If you manually adjust the plot area size,
however, it is no longer at its default size, and Excel no longer resizes
it.
