Greetings --

It varies according to your talent and abilities, as well as what
is being charged by other freelance technicians in your local area. I
generally charge $75.00 per hour; others charge more or less according
to their tastes and desires.

Generally about $50 per hour.....

depends on how nice they are, how 'horrible' their PC is and if they make me
lots of GOOD coffee while I'm at their house!

Nightmare scenario........Notebook with 4gb hard drive, Windows98, less than
10% free space on the hard drive, 32mb RAM.... and never defragged or
scandisked since purchase... no antivirus, no spyware catching software etc
etc.

Better scenario.......... Gateway with WinME.... always scanned and
defragged, 80% free space on harddrive, current antivirus.... but no spyware
detection..... and 256mb RAM.

Time at first call 6 hours..... (and same the second time, after we'd
upgrade with 128mb RAM, second call was to install antivirus and spyware
detection and firewall) Initial problem..... running slow!

Time at second call.... 1 hour. Problem.... old drivers for grahics card!
Didn't know how to get new ones... needed to be shown how to download and
install. Sigh.

Best scenario

XP with Remote Assistance.... I can sit at home on my P4, login to their PC,
sort everything out and have my own MP3s playing on WMP while I work.
Sweet.... and then they only get charged $35 per hour!

Hardware 'repair'???..... throw it away and get new. Most hardware isn't
worth repairing.
