changing to xp

i have just changed from 98se to xp and have now got partitions on my disks
had 280 gig but now have 105 doesnt recognise the rest also cant access any
of my old files what can i do

It sound like you may have installed a pre-SP1 version of XP. At least SP1
is required to fully use drives over 137GB

What kind of installation did you do? It sounds like you didn't do an
upgrade, but a clean installation.

i asked for an upgrade. is there anyway i will be able to use the other
files or will i need to format the drives and reload ?

OK, then please provide details on what you mean when you say "cant access
any of my old files." Can you not see the files in My Computer? Can you see
them, but they won't open? If so what happens when you try? If you get an
eror message, please quote it verbatim.

Is your problem perhaps this issue:

i can not see the files at all and its also changed my drive names and not
giving me access to all my hard drive one is fat 32 and one is ntfs.dont
know how this happened

This is difficult to diagnose from a distance, but it sure sounds to me like
what I said in the first place is right--regardless of what you intended to
do or thought you did, you didn't do an upgrade, but a clean installation.
