Changing the way the touch pad works on my lap top

Before I ask my question I'll explain that I am disabled & also diagnosed
with Alzheimer's. I struggle to keep using my computer as it is a means to
keep my mind from falling apart any quicker than necessary. My question is:
How do I keep the settings I've changed from reverting back to the previous
settings shortly after I've changed them ? My hands shake a good bit and if
I use the touch pad to click on things, I get everything done about 5 times.
(G) How can I keep the button for clicking on things instead of this
setting changing right back to the touch pad as the clicker ? Thank you for
anyone who can help. I hope my question is not so jumbled that no one can
understand it. Again, Thank you.

Cheryle

Those touch pads are notorious for being overly sensitive.
I replaced mine with a wireless mouse.
