Changing Slide Layout

I have imported a slide from one presentation to another (using the re-use
slides option).

I now need to tell it to 'use' one of the standard slide layouts from the
presentation it is now in.

Although I can use the Layout option to select a new layout for the slide
concerned, this seems to place the new layout 'underneath' the old one. So
the pictures don't sit within the placeholders, but on top of them - ie. the
pictures and the borders are two separate items.

Is there a way to avoid this?

Thanks.
Sue

Were placeholders used in the original presentation?

They are used in the presentation I am copying into, but not the one I am
copying from.
