How do I reduce the size of the chart area? I've made
the plot area smaller and would like to decrease the
white space in the chart area. Many thanks.

Select the chart, and drag on the handles on the chart's edges and
corners. You should do this before changing the plot area, because Excel
tries to rescale things proportionally.
