changing settings to send e-mails

every time I try to send an e-mail through my scanner it
keeps being returned telling me my input connections are
wrong. It mentions pop3 and html if I remember rightly.
Anyway I have to cut and paste said images and send them
through my aol account. Any ideas on how I can change
scanner settings so they are compatible/ Thanks
