My laptop is only reading DVDs from Europe, how can I make it read american
DVD?
Explanation: I have a US laptop but I went to France for several months. I
saw french DVDs and now, it's impossible to read american DVDs. I have a DVD
writer plugged in to my laptop so I play american DVDs on it. The problem is
that I want to sell my laptop now (in USA) and people will want the ability
to see american DVDs without the DVD writer, so what can I do?

Search for a hack for the DVD
Replace with a new (or US region) DVD
or
install this program http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm

I would prefer a hack.
I have a TEAC DW-224E-A DVD drive.
I found this information:
http://forum.rpc-1.com/viewtopic.php...6622eb596261b8

The problem is that I don't know which one of these options to choose:
/ps primary / slave drive(default)
/sm secondary / master drive
/ss secondary / slave drive

You an change the region code five times. Do it anymore than that and the
drive will be screwed unles you hack the firmware. Go to device manager and
select the drive, select properties, select DVD Region tab, select USA
region code 1 and select ok.

Another option is to hack the drive so it is region free and will read any
region. You will find info on that here.

The best way to find out where the DVD is, is by going into the BIOS
Under Standard CMOS Setup

Should be four types
PriMaster
PriSlave
SecMaster
SecSlave

The DVD will be shown as using one of them.

Primaster isn't going to be one of them, Most likely SecMaster (SM),
but check to make sure.
