changing the primary display on my laptop to my second monitor

I have laptop and a monitor and I am trying to get the
monitor to be the primary "1" and the laptop as "2". I
read the Kbase-307873 "HOW TO: Configure and Use
Multiple Monitors in Windows XP" and it indirectly states
you can't do it with a laptop, see text under
Dualview: "On a portable computer, the primary monitor is
always the LCD display screen". Does anyone have a work
around?

I use the monitor because it is larger and sits in front
of me and the laptop is on a dock station off to my
left. It would be great to use that as secondary
monitor. It is frustrating not to be able to use my
laptop as a secondary display. Please send me your
suggestions. Thanks!
