Hi-Hope I'm in the proper forum. I've searched other sources and just cannot
find an adequate answer.
If I download a photo and would like to use it as my desktop wallpaper,
how can I change the resolution? For ex; a meerkat pic is 640x320. I want
to change it to 1280x1040. Can this be done? No matter what I've tried, and
I realize that this may be an extreme example, the wallpaper-using
"stretch'-is distorted. Any suggestions? Thanks

You can, do a certain degree.
Download and install the free software
www.irfanview.com
Open your photo in it and click on Image on the top bar and then
resize/resample.

A variety of options will be given.
You need to keep the same aspect ratio (640/320 = 2) otherwise distortion
will occur as when you try 1280/1040 = 1.23. This is too far from 2. I am
guessing you want to fill your screen and you have a 1280 x 1040 screen
resolution. Not going to happen. You can try 1920 x 960 but I think the best
will be 1280 x 640 and accept black space around.
