changing Outlook-03 default view options

Problem: Outlook03 likes to default the view of new folders to ReadingPane
ON and ShowMessagesInGroups ON.

Both defaults are annoying but they're particularly maddening when I reset
those options the way that I like them on a parent-folder but newly created
subfolders don't inherit those settings.

Anyone know of a way to:
- reset those values from the top of the Folder List tree for existing
folders
- change the default display values so that they stick for newly created
(sub)folders

Thanks in advance. - S.

If all the folders are still in their default view changing the Messages
view will change the view of all those folders with that view.
