Hi alls,
My current harddisk is running win XP Pro. I like to change a new mainboard
because of problem in current mainboard. Just want to know that will the XP
start-up like before and auto-configure or i had to reinstall the XP pro
again.

If the mobo and CPU are the same specs it will start up, but
if the mobo and/or CPU are different to any degree, a repair
install (reinstall) will be needed to get the correct
drivers.

thank you. i'm going to change the mainboard from SIS to Biostar or
kontron.
This is what normally happen to my PC,
1) i can't start-up frequently, no signal is send to monitor but the cpu
light is on
2) sometime there a continuous long beep sound abt 3 sec long when i switch
on the cpu,
3) sometime hang at detecting harddisk or verifying VMI pool.
4) and when i finally get into XP environment, most of the time i will have
the blue screen of death.

I had tried changing the ram and harddisk and even the power supply, but the
problem still persist. So i thought that it might be the mainboard. Or
could it be the mainboard battery running flat soon?? Pls advise.

You will definitely need to do a repair install, here is the

Hi,

Is it a home built PC or a brand named PC?
A long beep (For Award BIOS) during POST means you have
some losen device(s) on the mobo (most likely is the AGP
vedio card), I would suggest you to remove all the PCI
and AGP devices from the mobo and then re-insert them
again. Also check the flat ribbon cables and power cables
to ensure that they are all connected correctly and
firmly.
At last, try download and install the latest chipset
drivers and BIOS from the mobo manufacturer's website.
Change of mobo should be the last resort.

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, same IDE controllers, same BIOS version, etc.),
you'll need to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade)
installation, at the very least:

As always when undertaking such a significant change, back up any
important data before starting.

This may also require re-activation. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most
likely be able to activate via the internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
