That's Mac OS or at least something *nix based (KDE is a GUI for *nix).

Here's my desktop http://www.dasmirnov.net/cybermonkey/desktop031111.jpg

The bar thing on the side is smartbarxp (www.smartbarxp.com) it's beta
software but it works (just) the theme is one of the Corona themes available
on www.themexp.org and the background is one from Longhorn (also available
at themexp). Loads of stuff over at www.themexp.org so definitely have a
poke around and see if there's anything that takes your fancy!

Hi Sara

You need some 3rd party utilities to do that. You can find many such
utilities from www.Stardock.com, not all of their products are free. For the
dock, you can try a program called MobyDock. I suggest you visit the forum
over at www.Neowin.com, http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php , the folks
there can suggest many other cool utilities or applications you can try.
Some other sites you can visit are

www.aqua-soft.org

www.deviantart.com - you can find skins for about any popular skinnable app
out there.

www.xpthemes.com

Note: not all of the windows customizing utils will work with Win95/98/ME.
Most of the Stardock products will.

Have fun!

p.s.

Just a small suggestion. Not that I'm a member of the newsgroup police ;-)

You've cross posted to too many newsgroups. It's preferable you start a
single topic in a single group, and if you still get no replies after a few
days then ask in another group you think is appropriate to ask in. Some
people mistake cross posting for rudeness, which I'm sure you're not.

I know in this reply I myself am cross posting but I'm not sure which groups
you will read :-)

First step: Throw away windows!

You have two options:

1.Use StyleXP: It lets you to change the XP theme. But some apps (such
as M$-Office and AVG) just can't use the new theme system. And you
need to add files to get it work in most of apps, see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...x/cookbook.asp

2.Use WindowBlinds: It hacks the core... Everythings are changed (and
look far better than StyleXP). No application support needed. But the
performance is BAD.

If you look at the text over the "apple" graphic, you'll see it's OS-X for
the Macintosh. You can get similar results in Windows by selecting the
"Silver" color scheme under the "Appearance" tab of the Display Properties.
Selecting "Advanced" under that same tab will allow you to change the fonts
and so forth used in Windows. Others have already suggested some third-party
utilities you can use for additional effects.

Hey Everyone!

Since this is crossposted into the xp.games newsgroup, I just
want to add a bit of caution: Themes could cause problems
for the serious gamer. A simple modified uxtheme.dll is fine,
however the full blown styles and blinds *may* cause harm.

If you want to experiment with themes, that's fine. Too much
Bliss gets boring after awhile, however make a restore point!

How to use Windows XP System Restore:

ugh why is it so difficult? my friend said he just changed a few
settings and he didn't have to pay anything and it doesn't slow down
his computer.
