changing from the "inbox" to "personal" tabs, nothing happens

when changing from the inbox to the personal floders tab, the screen goes
blank for a while and then gives me a message saying it couldn't open the
webpage.
plus, everything has slowed down tremendously when getting mail and changing
between all other tabs
