Hi,

When I install new software that software tends to change the icons. That
must be a form of unwanted advertising. How can I change back the icons to
the original one?

I have no idea why you think it is unwanted advertising when you
installed the software and (I assume) you allowed it to take over the
association, hence use its own icon, but...

Windows Explorer-Tools-Folder Options-File Types
Find the association and change it if you don't want the new one.

That's simply the standard method of indicating what program is handling
that file type. No conspiricy or subliminal advertising, just common
sense. You can force ANY icon to be used if you want. See Control Panel,
Folder Options, File types, Advanced.

Open the "original software" and restore the file associations.

Don't ask me what I mean by "original software"... I'm being as
helpful as you were when you asked your question without giving even a
hint of what "new software" you were referring to.
