Want to change the default directory
FrontPage uses to store your web sites
on your local computer?

There is a tweak posted at Tiffany Edmonds'
site here:
http://www.at-frontpage.com/2002/default_directory.htm

If you would like an install file you can download and run
to do it for you there is one here:
http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/index.htm

Hi Steve,

Do you know if the "tweak" works for 2003, too?

As of right now I don't know, that's why I
specified 2002.

However, if the registry setting is the same
in 2003 it "should" work.
I don't have access to a machine with FP 2003 installed
to check the setting and or run the installer.

If you are comfortable poking around in the registry, you could tell
me if it's the same as shown on Tiffanys' web page, and if you're
brave you could run the fix and be my 2003 "beta tester"

Regards
Steve

Steve,

Sorry but I'm not brave and have resigned as a beta tester, leaving that to
those with more smarts, experience and background.

By the way, where's Buyens or Chesire when you need them?

Oh, all right, poof. Please state the nature of the digital emergency.

(tee hee)

I tested this hack and it seems to work OK in FP2003.

However, you should always open a Web site first, and only
*then* open pages. And once the Web site is open, File Open
defaults to the root of the current Web site. The hack
therefore seems irrelevant, at least to me.

Hi Jim.

The purpose of it is to change the default
location where webs are stored.
So if I want to save my webs at C:\websfolder
Front page will automatically open C:\websfolder,
instead of C:\My documents\My Webs and
then you select the web you want to work with
from the C:\websfolder directory.
