You should have no problem using your converted field with
the formula in Mail Merge.

You can convert what you have by copying the range (i.e. column)
then Edit, Paste Special, Values. Then eliminate the original column.
If you would rather avoid the little dance routine you could use a
macro to convert them in place from original constants.
