I have a program on a cd which I can install on my c
drive, but it will not run unless I use the cd. I would
like to transfer in it entirely to my c drive, however
when I copied the files onto my c drive and try to run the
program directly from the c drive I get a message saying
that it is unable to locate the data files on the d
drive. How can I change that configuration?

Ok, 2 things

Firstly, have you ok'd copying the files off the CD with the software company? Most licencing agreements I have seen specify that you cannot do this, so I'd check with them first

Next, you should ask them where their software refers to the d:, as it will be specific to their software

Jo Ann,

this is a common situation. The way to solve this type of problem is to
use a program like VirtualDrive which creates a virtual drive image of
your CD on your Hard disk. As long as you do not use this type of
program to circumvent the copyrights of the author, this makes this type
of programs more usable and convenient. Only drawback: it freezes a
significant amount of space on your HD since basically, the content of
the CD is copied onto it.
