Hello

What is the best way to change a large set of file
names. For example, a folder holds a several hundred
files that all start with 100_ (like 100_3457.jpg,
100_1773A.jpg, etc.) I need to replace the 100 part of
the name with a date, for example 040815. (like
040815_3457.jpg, 040815_1773A.jpg)

Thanks

If you select the first and hold down the shift key and select the last
the group will be selected. Right on the group and choose rename. Type
040815.jpg and all will be renamed 040815(1) to 040815(100).

OK, but this doesn't answer my question. the file names
must look like:

040815_3457.jpg, 040815_1773A.jpg, 040815_12466.jpg, etc.

Any ideas?

There is no way to accomplish this in XP. The file names must be changed in
their entirety. There may be a third party application that can accomplish
this, but I don't remember seeing one.
