Hi John:
FTEdit can be used to rebuild the Disk key in the Registry of NT 4; this is
what NT 4 uses to keep track of 'Fault Tolerant' sets. The disk key tells
NT how to assemble the disks (in what order, and into what kind of FT set)
so that FTDISK.SYS can read and write from the FT set.
The disk signature is written on Sector 0 of a hard drive. You can use
various tools to edit this - if you are booted into the operating system,
you can use DiskProbe (dskprobe.exe) from the resource kit. However,
changing the disk signature manually is not something that you should have
do normally.
What are you trying to accomplish with Windows 2000?
