No, You don't need to uninstall anything (usually) Just follow the
instructions that came with the new modem pack and in a few minutes you will
be surfing the net at speed!

Just be aware that the old dial up modem is still there, that some
programs may be set up to use it as the default connection and will need
telling about the change, and that it does present a potential security
risk in that it can be hijacked by rogue diallers whereas the broadband
modem/router can't. You may like to unplug the dialup modem from the
phone socket unless you particularly need to use it for peace of mind.

The OP can go into control panel | internet options and tell it to never
dial up a connection. If your broadband is dial up make it default if you
want. Either way it will stop the dial up modem from connecting when you
only want broadband to connect. Also you can unplug the modem. Its good to
leave them installed as you have them as backup in case the broadband goes
down.

you tell your browser to not dial if there is a connection
already present, or even never dial. The broadband will
connect using the LAN port that looks like big telephone
jack. Some use the USB, but the Ethernet LAN is better.

You will use the modem to send Faxes, but you can turn the
modem answer mode off for security.
