There are two ways. The easiest is to adjust the color palette. Select
Options from the Tools menu, and click on the Color tab. See the bottom
two rows of the palette? These are the default colors for the first 8
line/scatter series and for the first 8 bar/column/area series. Click
Modify to adjust them. The nice trick with this one is that changing the
palette now will also change the colors in any existing objects in the
workbook (like those charts you made last week). Each workbook has a
separate palette, but from Tools > Options > Color, you can copy a
palette from one workbook to another.
The harder way, which doesn't change the palette, is to design a custom
chart type. I explain the process on my web site:
