Changing contacts in Preexisting Calendar events

We are using Outlook 2002 in our office. I have created
several meetings over the span of 2004.

The contacts in these meetings have changes based on
terminations and new hires. I update the names (either
removing them or adding new names). Yet those changes
names still appear.

What am I doing wrong?

please help.
