changing contact email address

I have one contact in windows mail that I cannot change their email address.
When I try to set their new address using the "set preferred" button it will
not work. It keeps the old address as the "preferred" address. OE was alot
easier to use.
Any ideas

Did you try deleting the original entry, and starting anew?
