changing computer name comments

When a computer name is first set locally (not the
NetworkID) a text box allows entering comments. Where are
these comments stored and how can they be changed?

These are stored in AD under the description attribute on the computer
account

This is also stored locally on the machine under the lanmanserver\parameters
srvcomment REG_SZ > manually editing requires a restart of the server
service or a reboot
