changing a Access Database from read only to read/write

Somehow my Access database now finds itself in read only
mode. I wasn't using any security and now find myself
getting Error 3086 ... I'm trying to delete records from
one table using a single set of relationships from another
table and I can't delete records. When I run a select
query using the same parameters I get a report of the rows
that would have been deleted plus I get a messages at the
bottom of the screen (prior to the report ) that the table
is not updateable? As a last try I set up security giving
the logon user the read/write/delete... keys to the
kingdom capabilities and I still get the same results ---
no deletions.

Any advice to the weary?
Thanks,
Hunter
