Changing to 800x600 causes signal loss

We’re having an issue with the XP video driver. When placing the display in a
resolution of 800x600, the video drops out and we have to use safe mode to
choose a higher resolution.

The preinstalled video driver is the most recent. I just checked the Intel
website. We were able to partially resolve it by loading the correct driver
for the monitor (Dell 2007fp in our case) so that instead of failing every
time, it fails maybe 1 in 10 times. I'm still looking into this problem but
hoped you may have seen this before and can offer some advice.

windows is a stable
program, so the issue
is highly likely to be
the monitor from china.

perhaps dell can
provide some feedback
if you repost your question here:

Go to the internet site of the manufacturer of the video card and check for
an updated driver.
