Changes to Windows XP logon screen

After I installed Office 2003 Pro my Windows XP logon
screen now shows the number of unread messages next to
each user. I would think that there's an option to
disable this in Outlook but I can't find it.

What's odd is that I installed the same software on my
laptop and this new mail message (on the XP log on
screen) never appeared.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could prevent this
message from displaying?

Thanks much.
